i was at the pure evil gallery on thursday and it was totally packed with people... but even through the big crowd, this piece really stood out. its called unknown woman and it's by david walker. so i went back today and bought it! it's spraypaint on wood and it's about 110 x 120 cm so this picture really doesn't do it justice.
it was sold to me by pure evil himself who is an absolute sweetheart, such a nice guy. over this weekend, pure evil has set filled the 2 rooms on the main floor of the gallery with work donated by different artists where all the proceeds of any sales go directly to the bhopal medical appeal for people who are still suffering from the effects of the world's worst industrial accident. he actually had me pay by filling out my details on the bhopal medical appeal's site itself, so the payment didn't even go through him and he really doesn't see a penny of that money. it's a really great thing that he's doing and he is a genuinely great guy (he even went outside the gallery to go find me a cab himself and carried the painting out into the cab for me!)
if you'd like to donate money to the bhopal medical appeal, you can do so here.
and definitely check out the pure evil gallery as well. it's nice to see artists giving back like this.
